I am a maker. But I am also an environmentalist. I worry about the damage we are doing to this planet.  In my textile collages, I use only recycled, vintage, found and repurposed materials. In my larger textile installations, I extract colour from the plants that surround me and dye organic cotton and linen. My practice is based on environmental awareness and how I connect to the earth. I am one of countless artisans worldwide who share these concerns.

In the spring of 2024, I was invited to exhibit at Collect2024 in London, UK with the Craft Alliance Atlantic. Collect is the leading annual international art fair for contemporary craft and design representing over 400 craft makers. While there I have the opportunity to view contemporary craft from across the globe. Based on my research of the artists, many of these craftspeople make sustainable work by incorporating recycled or organic materials or materials collected, grown and harvested from the natural world. Many are addressing topics such as climate change and waste.

In this presentation, I will introduce you to a few of them.
